Binding Machine Repairs

Ever since the invention of punch binding machines, the complexity of these important office machines has increased. With increased complexity, so has the reliance and need for trouble free operation increased for most offices using these machines.

With so many companies relying on comb and wire binding machines to create professional presentations of important documents, downtime can be crucial when a breakdown occurs and the last thing you want is for your machine to fail when you need it the most.

What Causes comb and wire binding machines to breakdown and what steps can you take to help avoid this happening?
There are various reasons why a breakdown can happen and more often than not, its caused by user error, here are some examples of user error to avoid:

1: Not Emptying – Overfilling the chip tray can restrict the ability for the punch pins to fully penetrate the document being punched. Try emptying the chip tray then cycle the machine without paper to clear the punch dies.

2: Exceeding the maximum rated punching capacity of the binder. The recommended maximum sheet punching capacity is normally printed on the machines cover.

3: Punching plastic cover sheets can cause the punching die to foul. Whilst punching one clear cover per cycle is tolerable for most punch binders, punching more than one thickness only increases the change of fouling, leaving the user with no choice but to place a service call.
